"Golden Plates" by Lincoln Cannon

Available now is my computed comparison of the Second Book of Nephi to the Bible. It consists of 157 pages of side-by-side text comparisons. This is part of the second edition of As One that Hath a Familiar Spirit. Here are some highlights from and observations about this comparison of the Second Book of Nephi to the Bible:

  1. 2 Nephi 2: 11 introduces necessary “opposition” as Matthew 18: 17 introduces necessary “offences”
  2. 2 Nephi 4: 17 exclaims “o wretched man that I am” as does Romans 7: 24
  3. 2 Nephi 6: 6-7, 16-18 closely matches Isaiah 49: 22-26 with an interjection about “Mighty God”
  4. 2 Nephi 7-8 closely matches Isaiah 50-51 and the first two verses of Isaiah 52
  5. 2 Nephi 9: 50-51 closely matches Isaiah 55: 1-2 with an extended interjection
  6. 2 Nephi 12-24 closely matches Isaiah 2-14 with differences that are more interesting than similarities
  7. 2 Nephi 25: 20 references Jesus Christ using “there is none other name given under heaven” like Acts 4: 12
  8. 2 Nephi 27: 2-5, 15, 17, 25-35 closely matches Isaiah 29: 6-24
  9. 2 Nephi 30: 9, 11-15 closely matches Isaiah 11: 4-9 with 2 Nephi 30: 10 interjected
  10. 2 Nephi 33 expresses Nephi’s words like John 19: 22 expresses Pilate’s words

Editions of Computed Comparisons of the Book of Mormon to the Bible

I have published multiple editions of my work comparing the text of the Book of Mormon to that of the Bible. The first edition was computer-assisted and published by Brigham Young University in 1998. The second edition was computer-generated in 2006, and ultimately served as the basis for the Discerner project in 2015. Below is a list of articles and websites that provide more information about and access to each of the editions, as well as related comparisons:
