Practical Atonement
Practical atonement emphasizes application of the Atonement of Christ in daily life, transforming our thoughts, words, and actions. It accounts for the Atonement, expanding from Jesus in Gethsemane, as an eternal process of reconciliation through love, repentance, forgiveness, and service. This approach encourages universal active participation in bringing humanity closer to God and each other. By living and practicing the principles of Atonement, we work toward unity, compassion, and becoming Christ.
This is a list of articles that Lincoln Cannon has written about practical atonement. A full archive of all articles that Lincoln has published since 2005 is also available. You may also search for articles and other content that's available on any of Lincoln's websites.

The Historical Christ Jesus of Nazareth Matters
A friend asked me questions about the historical Jesus. Was he important? Is he still important? If so, why? I’ve written much about Jesus over the years. My emphasis is often on the importance of revering Jesus as an example, the principal example, of sublime humanity or the mortal approach ... -

Desire Entices Us to Embrace Ethics

Morality is not static subsets of values
Some of us seem inclined to understand and speak of morality in terms of some specific set of values (such as those commonly advocated by self-identified conservatives or progressives), rather than in terms of acknowledging and accounting for values generally, including the conflicts and tensions between and among them. When ... -
Dynamic Faith in Pancritical Rationalism
In the comments on an H+ Magazine article on “Why Christianity and Transhumanism are not Enemies,” Max More disagreed with my assessment of the inevitability of faith. Here’s the exchange, including an opening comment from someone named “Ben.” Ben: “Christianity is based on FAITH. Transhumanism is based on SCIENCE. What ... -
Jesus Christ and Atonement in Knowledge and Goodness
On the Mormon Transhumanist Association Response blog, Vblogger asks how the pursuit of science, if not limited, can be reconciled with faith in Jesus Christ. Do we need the grace of God? If we can figure things out on our own, why do we need Christ? In the strictest sense, ... -
Mythology as Atonement
While listening to speakers at church today, I considered my internal reactions to the various ideas and feelings expressed. At times I was inspired, at times indifferent, and on occasion annoyed. Consideration led me mostly to familiar explanations, ranging from degree of shared perspective to volume of persons near me, ... -
